High-Wire Act
By Michael Erlewine
Life can be gentle, but it also can whip-lash us, putting us through the wringer of time, ready or not. It just happens and every once in a while we find ourselves on the wrong end of the stick. Learning from such an experience is about the best we can hope for.
For example, we have been looking for and at houses for about 6 years now. We wanted to move closer to our kids and grandkids. We have spent many happy hours just sitting together looking at houses, and also have driven hundreds of miles in a day going to tour houses. We all know the drill.
Yesterday was yet another close call, however we are just too slow on the uptake and always seem to come late to the party. We can’t make up our minds fast enough for this housing market.
For example, in the last few days we found a house that we both liked, but it had sold and was looking for backups, but the deal fell apart and oddly enough we were around to pick up the slack. We had a night and an early morning of connection, until a third party snapped it up and grabbed it before we could.
I am tired of this, and we have gone on and on and on., as mentioned here once in a while, for some six years.
Apparently, at least right now, we are not about to move anywhere. We are always a day late and a dollar short or something like that.
Instead, and again ‘apparently’, we are not going to move and so, given that, we want to turn our attention to taking care of the property we have had for 46 years which is paid for and we need to find a handyman or two to help with the upkeep. I should not be on high ladders at my age, etc.
And there is the point that Margaret does not want to move south and I don’t want to move farther north. That too is a factor.

As Bodhicitta is so precious,
May those without it now create it,
May those who have it not destroy it,
And may it ever grow and flourish.
