1883: A Series Women Should See
By Michael Erlewine
I’m very impressed with the work of screen writer and producer Taylor Sheridan. Almost all of his series are top notch, and not to be missed.
Yet, one of them “1883,” a prequel to “Yellowstone,” following the Dutton family’s journey across that Great Plains series should be seen and especially seen by women because they have an empowering message that can be found in few other places. Period.
Yes, it is about settling the far west and covered wagon trains. And yes, some of the first parts are somewhat grisly and may be hard to watch.
However, when Elsa Dutton comes on the scene, played by Isabel May, a tomboy, and recites her story, all I could think of was that every young (and older) woman should see this series. I know I want my three daughters to see it, if they can find the time. I will send them a copy and have them share it by sending it on to the next daughter.
It is a love story and also a life story that I will not soon forget and, as mentioned, I wish something every woman should take in. Let me know if you like it.

As Bodhicitta is so precious,
May those without it now create it,
May those who have it not destroy it,
And may it ever grow and flourish.
